About
Pilates isn’t all about making crazy pretzel shapes with your body and beautiful Instagram-worthy pictures in exotic places. It’s about the journey you take on your mat, NOT the destination of the poses. We promise to be as real with you as possible.
Our
Classes
Personal Training
Personal training and Pilates both focus on functional strength. We need muscles in our body to actually do normal daily living, hence the body weight training and weight training and/or those additional red or blue springs on the reformer here in the studio that your instructor sometimes sneaks on.
Pilates Benefits
Attention to core support and full-body fitness, including the breath and the mind, provide a level of integrative fitness that is hard to find elsewhere. It is also a reason that Pilates is popular in rehab settings, as well as with athletes who find that Pilates is a great foundation for any kind of movement they do.

I always look forward to attending my equipment class @Core Defined. Each instructor knows their stuff, they tailor the workout to suit everybody’s individual needs and level of fitness. My core strength has improved out of sight, 10/10 for Core Defined Pilates
After spending my younger years playing football and cricket with Scoliosis against advice of doctors, back that up with an office jobs not really consistent with being active, and throw in some open heart surgery I thought that living with back pain in my later years was going to be the new normal.
While walking and gym seemed to be helping I was never consistently pain free. After a recommendation from a mate (yes men do Pilates too!) and doctors I started going to equipment classes with Unica and the ladies at Core Defined.
After struggling through the first few sessions with soreness in places I didn’t think I had muscles, the benefits were almost immediate and endless. No back pain is great but Pilates also eliminated my shoulder and knee issues, even lowered my blood pressure!
Even when I do something outside my capabilities and re-injure myself I sheepishly limp into class, but an hour later the rehabilitative properties of Pilates have me walking back out the door 2” taller.
Small personalised classes, friendly people, some OK playlists (Christmas Corals are not conducive to my Peak Performance) with knowledgeable instructors has made for a life changing experience.
I have recently returned to pilates after a 5 year break (pregnancy/c-section/Mum life). The equipment classes have been great. The small group sizes are perfect for a beginner like me. It’s also reassuring to feel my lower abs again … I didn’t think I’d ever feel them again. I have a few old injuries (including a dodgy SI joint) that I really notice when I’m not fit. These are getting better already and I can only do 1 class a week. I can’t recommend the equipment class enough.
